AVNetworks Conference launched at PLASA 2010 to tackle networking issues

PLASA Events and United Business Media's Pro Sound News Europe and Installation Europe have announced the launch of AVNetworks 2010, a technology and business conference which will run alongside PLASA 2010 on its final day - Wednesday 15 September 2010.

PLASA 2010, which runs from the 12-15 September at Earls Court in London, is a major platform for the launch and promotion of innovative new ideas emerging across the event, entertainment and installation industries. The co-location of the AVNetworks Conference is a significant new addition to the event, and is the second Conference to be launched alongside this major international trade show this year.

The one-day event will throw light on the burning issue of networking technologies and protocols, how to make the best use of today's standards and what can be expected in the future.

The conference is aimed at AV installers, sound engineers, technical officers, rental companies, executives and consultants, plus anyone with an interest in the technology and the business of AV networking.

To be held in the prestigious Earls Court Conference Centre AVNetworks 2010 will be chaired by Roland Hemming, the highly respected AV industry consultant and commentator. AVNetworks 2010 will take a multifaceted approach to the subject – with contributions from manufacturers, consultants, installers and rental companies.

The event is being produced jointly by Installation Europe and Pro Sound News Europe, and Hemming is working closely with both to put together a compelling group of speakers and panels.

Confirmed conference sessions include: Manufacturers' Panel - which networking standards have they adopted and how do they see the future developing?; Control and integration - how to ensure that different equipment types can communicate with each other; Video networking - issues and challenges; The future of integration with IT and building automation; What do end users want from AV networks, and what are they actually getting?

Said Hemming: "2011 will be a pivotal year in the development of the next generation of truly integrated audio systems. We need to understand how other industries have solved the problems we still have and what our clients actually want us to deliver. This conference gives a perfect opportunity to learn, discuss and collaborate."

AVNetworks 2010is supported by PLASA 2010 and will take place on the final day of the four-day show. Anyone booking tickets to the AVNetworks 2010 conference will also be given free VIP entry to PLASA 2010 for all four days of the show.

"We are delighted that Pro Sound News Europe and Installation Europe have chosen to co-locate their brand new conference alongside PLASA 2010," said Nicola Rowland, Director of Events for PLASA Events. "Bringing key players from the audio, AV and networking industries together within the PLASA Show dateline to debate a range of important networking and protocol issues will be fundamental in shaping the future of the audio industry".

Pro Sound News Europe editor Dave Robinson added: "There are many technologies and protocols out there - A-Net, Dante, EtherSound, HiQnet and Optocore to name a handful in the audio domain - and we're going to be exploring the strengths and opportunities these different systems represent. And, of course, we'll be tackling the rapidly developing AVB standard and what it's going to mean for the future of live events, the installation business and content delivery."

"This conference offers an unrivalled opportunity for delegates to debate the issues - both technology and business related - surrounding networking, and to learn from some of the biggest names in the industry," said Paddy Baker, editor of Installation Europe.

The co-location of AVNetworks 2010 is just one of many new initiatives at PLASA 2010, which include an 'interactive' Innovation Gallery, a new Ecovenue area featuring sustainable practices, a focus on the EN54 Directive and the launch of a major new conference for the rigging industry.
