PLASA Completes Rigging Pilots
PLASA has recently completed its first round of rigging pilots - an essential element of the successful delivery of the National Rigging Certificate. The three pilots took place at support centres in Birmingham, Bolton and Northampton and over 30 candidates from the rigging industry participated in the pilot programme.
Initial feedback has been highly positive and is enabling PLASA to make final adjustments to the scheme in readiness for its launch at the PLASA Show in September, where assessments will also be held.
To complement the launch of the NRC, an official NRC Handbook is currently in development, which will provide candidates with essential information and guidance on the assessment process, together with references to more detailed information on rigging skills and techniques, health & safety, procedures for working at height and personal fall protection systems. The Handbook will be endorsed before publication by the National Rigging Advisory Group and be available for distribution at the PLASA Show.
