Radio Licensing meeting attracts over 70 industry professionals

To increase awareness of OFCOM’s proposed Radio Spectrum sell-off, PLASA organised a half-day presentation providing a briefing on the issue and the work of the BEIRG Steering Group (of which PLASA is a member). The agenda covered the response to the OFCOM Digital Dividend Review (DDR) and the progress and structure of the political lobbying campaign.

Over 70 industry professionals attended the meeting at the Noel Coward theatre in London and without exception, pledged support for the work being carried out. An appeal was also made for donations to ensure the continued funding of the lobbying campaign which PLASA is co-ordinating through its political consultants - for which there was unanimous support.

As a direct response to the work of the BEIRG steering group, Peter Luff MP secured an adjournment debate on the issue in the House of Commons in early March. An article has also been secured in The House of Commons House Magazine covering the campaign and the Early Day Motion (EDM) has now very close to reaching the significant benchmark of 200 signatures.

PLASA submitted a DDR response during the OFCOM DDR consultation period which finished on 21 March on behalf of the PLASA membership, augmenting the PMSE Pro User Group submission document which was submitted to OFCOM on 16 March, and posted on the OFCOM website as an official response.
