Carbon Literacy Training

Carbon Literacy Training provides individuals with a clear understanding of climate change, its impacts, and the practical steps they can take to reduce carbon emissions in their professional and personal lives.

The PLASA-designed* Carbon Literacy course is tailored specifically to the unique needs of the entertainment technology industry, addressing real-world challenges and opportunities our members face. By taking part, you’ll gain relevant, actionable knowledge, strengthen your sustainability credentials, and contribute to a more resilient, future-focused industry.

The training comprises 2 parts:

Part 1:
30-minute self-study with 4 quizzes to be completed in your own time before Part 2.

Part 2:
2 x 2-hour interactive sessions with a trainer delivered online to you and a cohort of people*.

*Monthly cohorts are available from July to November 2026. Places are limited to 12 participants per cohort, providing the opportunity to learn alongside other professionals from across the entertainment technology industry.

Assessment:
You will receive an assessment form to complete after Part 2. It shouldn’t take any longer than 30 minutes to fill out. If you meet the criteria to become certified carbon literate, you will receive your certificate from the Carbon Literacy Project.

Follow the steps below to become carbon literacy certified by the Carbon Literacy Project:

STEP 1
Choose the monthly slot that works best for you (running from July to November 2026), complete the form and payment process below.

STEP 2
You will be emailed a link to the self-study site for the first part of the course. Complete the 4 quizzes at the end of each page and fill in the form at the end.

STEP 3
Attend both 2-hour course sessions.

STEP 4
Fill out the assessment form.

STEP 5
Receive your certificate from the Carbon Literacy Project and spread the word that you are carbon literacy certified!

STEP 6
Put what you have learnt into practice to help our industry decarbonise.

*Important clarification

The Carbon Literacy Training delivered by PLASA is a training programme that includes an end-of-course assessment. Successful completion of the training and assessment does not result in a PLASA certification and should not be considered evidence of occupational competence in a specific technical role.

Individuals who successfully meet the requirements set by the Carbon Literacy Project may achieve Carbon Literate certification, which recognises an individual’s understanding of climate change and commitment to taking action to reduce carbon emissions.

Unlike technical competency certifications, which assess the skills, knowledge and experience required to perform specific job functions, Carbon Literate certification recognises awareness, understanding and action relating to climate change.

PLASA delivers the training programme; Carbon Literate certification is independently assessed and awarded by the Carbon Literacy Project.
