The PLASA Awards for Innovation, which recognise and reward forward-thinking product designs, are now accepting submissions. The 2018 annual Awards will be presented during PLASA Show 2018 which runs from 16-18 September at London Olympia.
All successfully vetted entries are judged by an independent panel of industry experts based on the strength of their innovation. Up to eight awards – including a Gold Award – can be presented to products which demonstrate a new style of thinking, improve technical practice and safety, introduce new technology, materials or techniques, or offer new commercial advantages.
Furthermore, the judges can choose to present the PLASA Award for Sustainability to recognise product design which claims significant reduction of power usage or environmental impact, or effective use of renewable energy.
Last year’s winners were: City Theatrical for the DMXcat, Claypaky for the K-EYE K20 HCR, Drop for the Hyperlay, Eaton – Zero 88 for the RigSync, Elation for the Artiste Dali, Elation for the Proteus Hybrid, Shure for the Axient Digital and Stage Smarts for the Smart PDU.
The PLASA Awards are crowned by the prestigious Gottelier Award which celebrates the lifetime achievement of a pioneering professional working within live entertainment technology. PLASA members and pre-registered PLASA Show visitors are eligible to vote for this accolade which, in 2017, was presented to Wayne Howell, the founder of Artistic Licence.
Nominated products will feature on the Innovation Gallery throughout PLASA Show. Additionally, entries can enjoy pre-show publicity in LSi and LSA PLASA Show Previews and in the Official PLASA Show Catalogue, and post-show publicity on LSi’s YouTube channel. Filmed footage of product presentations will also be available for promotional use.
The Awards are open to PLASA Show exhibitors and non-exhibiting PLASA members, and the deadline is Friday 17 August. For more information please visit: https://www.plasashow.com/awards
