Following growing industry interest in Sig-Net at PLASA PlugFest earlier this year, a new event was created to give developers dedicated space to put the protocol through its paces.
In this guest blog, Wayne Howell of Singularity shares how PLASA CyberFest grew from the collaborative spirit of PlugFest, what happened at its first gathering at LAMDA in London, and why the event marks an important step for the industry as it prepares for new cybersecurity requirements.
PLASA PlugFest has long been the cornerstone of interoperability testing in the entertainment technology industry.
Organised by PLASA and hosted by Hamish Dumbreck (JESE Ltd), Peter Willis (Howard Eaton Lighting Ltd), Chris Kennedy (ChamSys Ltd), and myself, the event has continued to go from strength to strength.
Earlier this year, we launched Sig-Net at PlugFest in Lille. The industry interest was so immense that Sig-Net quickly became the focal point of the gathering, making it clear there was an urgent appetite for a dedicated event.
While PlugFest successfully balances broad interoperability testing, education, and standards development, we decided our new event should focus purely on Sig-Net developers. With that mandate, PLASA CyberFest was born.

Hosted by the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) at their Carne Theatre, the three-day event took place on 2-4 September 2026 and focused entirely on Sig-Net and its sister protocol, SNOW (Sig-Net Over Wire).
With over 30 attendees representing around 20 companies, the room was bustling. Delegates ranged from teams in the early stages of evaluating Sig-Net to those conducting advanced interoperability testing on ready-to-deploy hardware.
Beyond the rigorous technical sessions, the social atmosphere matched the best of PlugFest: complete with animated discussions over drinks and some spirited competition during Singularity’s inaugural SNACtest Awards!
Delegate feedback was overwhelmingly enthusiastic, with unanimous agreement that the event was both highly productive and thoroughly enjoyable.
