PLASA Member TSL Lighting, supplier of lighting and rigging equipment and services, has relocated to a new, purpose-built HQ at Gateway House in Basingstoke, and recently hosted official Open Days for its customers and clients to tour the upgraded facility, meet the team, and get hands-on with its rental stock.
The new warehouse, twice the size of the company’s previous space, has nine level loading docks, a permanent ‘black box’ area to enable show prep, 400 hoists, 4.5km of truss, 340km of cable in hire stock, a 12m goods lift, 15m ceiling height, RFID wireless technology for automatic wireless asset management, and a 100kW solar array.
Encompassing a 50,000 sq.ft warehouse with a 40,000 sq.ft mezzanine, totalling a 90,000 sq.ft facility, TSL’s new headquarters also features training rooms, meeting spaces, and pre-visualisation suites: “We have a real focus on training here at TSL,” explained Loz Wilcox, director. “We wanted to make sure we can provide a space not just for our own teams, but to open it up to the industry, so that wider teams can use the facility to host their own training courses.”
TSL Lighting are PLASA members. “It’s really important to have an industry body that can support us not just with the knowledge base,” continues Wilcox, “but also to provide standards that we can all work to – whether that’s technical standards or safe working practices – to share with our teams and educate people in the industry.”
