Safety of display lasers guidance
This guidance has been prepared with the assistance of entertainment based trade bodies, experts in the production of laser displays, event venues, local authority environmental health officers, chartered safety advisers, insurers, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), and Public Health England.
As part of the HSE’s improvement to their communications strategy, HSE felt that the live entertainment technology industry should be custodians of this guide. PLASA was invited to manage that process, and with the support from those participating, revised the guide. The Radiation Safety of Lasers used for display purposes HS(G)95 has now been withdrawn and the Safety of Display Lasers produced by PLASA will now be the guidance that replace that guide.
This guidance is not compulsory and you are free to take other action, however if you do follow this guide you will normally be doing enough to comply with the law. Health and Safety inspectors and local authorities seek to secure compliance with the law and may refer to this guidance as illustrating good practice.
